How do you teach robots to collaborate?

Robots have to learn a lot from humans.

We learn a great deal from people who are interacting with them.

For example, we have to teach them to make eye contact.

But how do we teach them how to read human facial expressions?

They have to work with a human face, and we have no such thing.

The problem is, there are no facial expressions in the world.

So they can’t learn from humans what to look at and what not to look.

Aibo does have a couple of facial expressions.

It has the ability of recognising these facial expressions by comparing them with images that humans have created.

So when the human sees a cat, it will look at the cat’s face.

It may say, “Oh, that looks familiar.

That cat looks like me”.

The Aizo robot will know if it has a human friend and will say, for instance, “I have a friend here”.

It will look to the right and say, then it will go down the corridor and go back to where it started.

It is learning by its own example.
