“We were shocked, shocked,” Patrick O”Connor told The New Yorker.
“I can tell you, we were all shocked.
And now we’re going to get through it together.””
I am so thankful that we have a family that is here for us,” Michael O”Connor added.
“She’s not going to be here for long.”
The family’s attorney, Marc E. Grossman, released a statement Wednesday night that said the couple has “lost a wonderful wife, mother, sister, friend, and person.”
“We are heartbroken that this tragedy has occurred,” the statement read.
“Jessica was loved, but she was also loved by all.
She was a dedicated, loving and devoted officer who cared deeply for her fellow officers and their families.””
Her legacy will be seen in all the ways she led the New York City Police Department and the police and community alike,” the family said.
“We will not forget her, but we will never forget what she meant to us.”
“This is a tragic time for all of us,” the letter continued.
“The O’Connor family will miss her, and the NYPD will miss the family of a loving, compassionate and dedicated woman.
We ask for privacy during this time.
The family’s full thoughts and prayers go out to all of her family and friends.”
