A drone company’s first drone-based surveillance system works—but the process is fraught with risk June 17, 2021 June 17, 2021 admin

A drone manufacturer is working to make its first-ever drone-tracking system for the defense industry more affordable.

The Hawkeye System, announced Thursday by the company’s founders, has a $3,000 price tag and could cost as little as $1,000.

The drone is equipped with sensors and software that allows it to see and track objects up to 40 feet (12 meters) away, including vehicles, houses, people, cars, and even people on rooftops.

“It’s a completely new way to get a look at buildings, buildings on buildings, and buildings in different parts of the city,” Hawkeye Systems CEO and cofounder Eric Anderson said.

“I think the whole idea of building a drone is a little bit of a nightmare, especially when it comes to getting the data that you need.”

Hawkeye also announced a new model of its sensor-laden Hawkeye Radar system, which will use infrared light to scan objects up and down the building facade.

That’s similar to a camera on a car.

“This new version is not going to be a big deal, but it will be a bigger deal in terms of being able to see what’s going on around you,” Anderson said, describing the radar as “a little bit like a Google Earth thing.”

The Hawkeyes will be made by a company called Koolance.

The system is expected to cost about $2,000, though it will likely be cheaper if you’re looking to buy one for your own backyard.

Hawkeye is also planning to offer a drone-mounted infrared camera, as well as a “remote-controlled aerial vehicle” (RAVA), which will be able to fly around the building and then be controlled remotely by a smartphone app.

“We are doing this as a service for the government, so we’re not doing this for commercial purposes,” Anderson explained.

“There are a lot of different uses out there that might benefit from this technology.”

Anderson said the Hawkeyes “are not going into a building, you’re not going out to a building with it, it’s not going anywhere in a building.

Hawkeyes can be controlled by any smartphone, and the company said the technology could be used to help police in the future. “

You don’t need a lot more than a phone app.”

Hawkeyes are also intended to be used in the field to detect suspicious behavior, such as a vehicle approaching a military base.
