Business Insider, Virginia Beach, VA (US) – On January 7, the Virginian-Pilot published an article on the Virginias new solar roof technology, saying that its roof could be made out of the most advanced materials on the planet and even that it could potentially cut down on the time and energy it takes to install a solar panel.
The article came as no surprise, as Virginias top solar industry official and its chief executive officer, Richard Branson, has been a vocal advocate for solar power in his home state.
Branson has also been a frequent speaker at solar panels and solar fairs, and has also spoken out against the “burden” of regulation for rooftop solar panels.
“The fact that you can now install solar in your home without the need for a utility company is the biggest thing that has made the solar industry possible,” he told Business Insider at the end of 2017.
And it is true that the Virginians rooftop solar system is extremely efficient and produces nearly double the amount of energy than the typical solar system.
But even that is not all.
Branson’s company, Virginias Power, is also developing a solar array that could be even more efficient.
For example, it could be able to produce electricity from an average solar array for just a few dollars per kilowatt hour.
That’s more than twice the amount that a typical rooftop solar panel is currently able to deliver.
To do that, Virginians Power is using a process called “smart energy management.”
Smart energy management is a concept where a solar module is put into a controlled environment and a computer program runs a series of calculations to estimate how much energy can be produced by the module.
This process is similar to the energy optimization process that utilities use to optimize electricity use.
“The more we understand, the more we can use to make solar more efficient,” Branson said.
The Virginias Smart Energy Management system would also help the company make sure that its rooftop solar is always producing more energy.
And it would also reduce the time required to install and operate a solar system by at least 50 percent, according to the company.
To be clear, Virginis Smart Energy management process has yet to be proven to work.
“It’s not yet been tested in real-world tests,” Brons company said in a statement.
“But we have some good ideas for how to make this more reliable.”
But that’s just one of the benefits of solar power, and one that has been touted by Branson and other Virginias leaders for years.
Solar has been gaining more traction as a way to power the nation since its introduction in the 1980s, when the first commercial solar power plants began appearing on the US landscape.
By 2017, the US solar industry had grown to more than 10.5GW of installed capacity, and by 2020, solar was responsible for more than half of the nations energy.
Solar has grown to become a major source of power in some of the wealthiest, most developed nations on Earth, and in the United States, the average household has access to solar energy at least 20 times a year.
For many Americans, however, solar energy isn’t enough.
They are often left without the ability to control the amount and quality of energy that they consume, or the cost of that energy.
In Virginia, the solar energy industry is one of few industries that relies heavily on subsidies.
As the state’s economy has grown, so too has the need to maintain the financial viability of the state.
Despite being one of Virginia’s poorest states, the state has been able to diversify its economy, with its solar energy generating more than a quarter of the revenue from the solar market.
Virginias economy has been diversified, and as of January 2019, the Commonwealth was producing nearly $7.4 billion in electricity.
In 2017, Virginia was ranked #5 on the list of top solar states, behind just Texas, Arizona, and New Mexico.
Virginia has been the #1 solar state for the last six years, and it is predicted that solar energy will continue to grow in the years ahead.
